Success for Quadrant Construction Apprentices Managed by Building Better Lives!
We are delighted to report that the first 14 apprentices to embark with Just Housing Group’s sponsored Building Better Lives project, have successfully completed their pre-apprenticeship training.
Headed up by Steve Thompson, Building Better Lives was established to provide young people with the opportunity to develop essential practical skills to secure a long-term career within the construction industry. This ties hand in hand to help to tackle the shortage of relevant skills within the construction sector.
The apprentices have been employed by London and Quadrant’s house building contractor, Quadrant Construction. The first 14, who will now begin their two-year apprenticeship, will be the first of many to be put through the scheme managed by Building Better Lives. All apprentices will play an influential role in supporting Quadrant Construction in delivering a major ten-year contract to build 5000 homes each year.
The apprentices have all received an award in recognition of their achievement to date. Just Housing Group were delighted to join Stuart Miller, Managing Director at Quadrant Construction (centre of the photo) at the award ceremony.
BBL’s is currently in discussions with numerous social landlords to provide support in managing apprentices, up-skilling their existing DLO workforces, creating Training Academies as well as providing advice on managing the new Apprentice Levy.
JHG Property Services lead Chris Culleton and JHG Recruitment lead Mark Drury will continue to provide support to BBL in the shape of a training agenda, whilst also assisting the business as they move forward.
